Our Goals

Ko¼miński Center for Corporate governance aims to develop understanding of economic phenomena involved in corporate governance, as well as to create effective solutions in this area. In our view corporate governance is an essential area of corporate management, allowing reconcile striving for economic efficiency with social responsibility and sustainable development.

Our Mission

Ko¼miński Center for Corporate Governance is a longterm research programme dedicated to creative thinking about corporate governance. The Center will be a forum for discussion and exchange of experience. It is to serve not only academic researchers, but also business leaders and institutions responsible for economics policy. Researchers affiliated with the center will have come from different schools of thought and use different approches to corporate governance research.

Our Research

In 2008, the Center was awarded a grant by the Ministry of Science to research board committees. The research project, titled Audit and remuneration committees: mechanisms for increasing supervisory board effectiveness will be completed by the end of 2010. The topic is of great interest to the corporate governance community in Poland, because audit committees have become mandatory for listed companies in 2009.

The Center brings together research which used to be conducted in various departments. By doing so we have achieved a wider perspective on the issue of corporate governance. Our faculty conduct research into theory of corporate governance, as well as applied solutions for entreprises. The main themes of our research include: accounting and auditing, financial markets and investors, board structure and policy, regulations and economic policy, global perspective to corporate governance.

Our Faculty

The faculty, who conduct research at the Center, share a common devotion to academic excellence. They have a strong research record and wide experience in both academia and corporate reality. Their work is set in an international context by co-operation with institutions in Europe and around the world. The Center welcomes contributions from both academics and corporate professionals who share our values and interests.
